The Longhaired Goddess

A couple of months ago I ran into an old co-worker on the street near where we used to work together at a crappy low-paying part-time job. When she asked what I do, I told her. I don’t generally tell people what I do on the side that is really paying my bills, but I said to myself, what the heck.

She was interested, and said she and another former co-worker would be interested in getting involved in phone sex.

Now these are hard luck girls, and while I just know that sometimes somebody is more than partly responsible for their own hard luck, sometimes a change of situation can help somebody take real responsibility for the trajectory of their present situation. In any case, it was April, so I told her that it was a good time to get set up, and I could help her with that.

So I gave her my phone number and took her email address. I sent an email containing some information that would be helpful, and didn’t hear anything. Then about a month later the other girl called and left a message. I got back to her to find that she was considering this, but was worried about it. I suggested we should get on it as soon as possible, if it was what she wanted to do.Another month has passed, and today I got a call from the first woman. She and her girlfriend had had a falling-out, the situation at work was grimmer than ever, and she needed $800 immediately - when could she get started and how much could she make?

Let’s bring it back down to earth. Summers are slow, what with good callers out relaxing in the sun with mai tais on the beach. And it takes a while for a newbie to get established if they want to run their own business. If we’d gotten started 2 months ago, I could have had the two of them set up within a week, but now?
I told her that she needs to find a company to work for in order to start getting paychecks as soon as possible, and if she still wanted to work for herself, we could get it set up, though things would be very slow building up until late fall.

So I asked when I could meet with her to find her a company to work for and get her started on her own.

Well, it looks like she’s too busy this week to see me in either the morning, afternoon, or evening…

Give me a break. You desperately need work but you’re too busy to spend an hour finding it?
